Everyday Education

Hello. Is this thing on? Anybody out there? Hello.

I'm here. A little sleepy, but here nonetheless.

Have you missed me? Did you think I had run away? Fallen off the face of the earth?

Let's just say that mommy-hood is in full swing at the D House and I couldn't be happier.

(I could be a little more rested and a little more skinny, but not more happy).

Anywho, I wanted to educate you all today on the things I am learning (or rather re-learning) as I mommy a baby again.

1. It doesn't matter that you've just changed two poopy diapers in the last 20 minutes, he could be dirty AGAIN!

2. Laundry does not walk itself to the laundry room, wash itself or fold itself. It only multiplies on itself.

3. Poop stains are some times IMPOSSIBLE to remove.

4. It's ok to not take a shower...for several days.

5. Sleep is only a 5 letter word that others know about...someday I might again.

6. If you eat standing up, you can pretend all the calories are rushing to your feet and not your bottom.

7. When you ask an older sibling to tone down the noise, that only invites them to tone it up a notch.

8. Style and mom with a newborn are not in the same sentence.

9. One's chin can sometimes make a good teething toy.

10. Just because they make bottles and pacifiers, does not mean that your child will take them.

Do you feel educated?

Hi

I've resorted to a simpler type of life.

One filled with diapers and wipes and nursing and fussing and napping (he not me).

Does that sound simpler?

And I've made an observation that I'd like to share with all of you.

I've observed that people are very willing to provide meals or run errands or babysit older siblings, but when it comes to those 3 am feedings, I'm not having anyone volunteer. What's up with that?

No, really, all joking aside, we have been so thankful for all the help we have gotten these last almost 8 weeks. God has blessed us not only with a wonderful family, but with a wonderful friend base as well.

Until next time...whenever that might be.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Little Sleep, Sweet Noises, Milk Machine

Those three things are what I've been up to lately.

Little sleep...H-Man is experiencing reflux and some tummy issues...equaling much interrupted sleep.

Sweet noises...don't you just love those sweet noises that the little ones make as they breath contentedly into your neck?

Milk machine...I am a machine when it comes to the lactating department. If you need calcium, I'm your girl.

And here is a picture of the sweetness that I get to experience all day long...

God is so good

He's here...H-Man arrived Tuesday afternoon safe and sound and full of life.

I was scheduled to have a regular doctors appointment on Tuesday afternoon. We were spending the night at my parent's house due to a field trip D-Man was going on and the proximity of their house to his preschool.

About 3:50 am, I woke to make one of my many trips to the bathroom. But this trip was a bit different. It continued to pour...and pour...and pour. After about 5 minutes of pouring, I was able to make it back to the bedroom to tell Husband and the fun began.

Woke up my mom, loaded the car, drove the 45 minutes to hospital. I was checked into the hospital around 6 am and by 1:17 pm, H-Man was born. He weighed 8 lbs, 5 oz and was 21 1/2 inches long.

We are still in the hospital, but will be going home this morning. H-Man is an eater and is nursing great. D-Man loves his little brother and always wants to see his feet and belly when he visits. We are so excited about getting our family of 4 back together tonight.

Thank you for all the prayers...I'll post in the next few days with updates. God is so good!

Too High Class

So D-Man and I were out doing some shopping the other day...spending a bit of time together before the craziness begins at our house with the addition of H-Man.

I told him on the way that he could pick anywhere he wanted to eat.

Now, remember, he is 4. Therefore, one would probably think that we would be eating at some fast food restaurant that had fries and a toy with the meal.

But, no no. Not my D-Man. When asked the question, "D-Man where would you like to eat?" He replied, "Red Lobster."

I am in trouble...

Just some swollen ankles and hands

That's all that is new at this point.

Blood pressure was a bit elevated and had some swelling...but the baby is still in there.

Hoping he will come out at any time.

I'm going to be eating mexican food tonight while walking and doing some jumping jacks.

Do you think it will help?

To be continued...
