Titles on Tuesday: Returns

Titles on Tuesday is back today to give you a book that you must read!

It's called By Reason of Insanity by Randy Singer.

And can I just tell you that I couldn't put it down. I loved every last page. It was intriguing, jaw-dropping, stretch you mind kind of reading. And, my favorite part is that it is Christian fiction.

The plot centers around two main characters, Catherine O'Rourke (newspaper reporter) and Quinn Newburg (Las Vegas attorney). Catherine hires Quinn to serve as her attorney after she is thrown in prison on suspicion that she committed several horrible murders. The suspicion arises because of the "visions" she has which tell unknown secrets about the murders.

Was it really her? Is she legally insane? Will she go free? You must read it to find out. Oh, and let me know what you think about it.

Titles on Tuesday: Must See Movie

Husband and I had a chance to go see the movie "Fireproof" this weekend.

We were on a date...with no child...and popcorn...and whatever I wanted to drink.

We were also on a date with the rest of our church, but that is beside the point.

Bottom line, YOU MUST GO SEE THIS FILM!

Husband I have what I consider a wonderful marriage. We respect each other. We love each other. We laugh together. We cry together. We fight together. We work through our fights together. We parent together.

And still, this movie had an impact on us. It was a reminder of the sacredness of marriage and the sacredness of our relationship with Christ. A reminder that marriage takes work...by both parties.

The storyline plays out between a firefighter and his wife who have grown apart due to lack of communication and lack of Christ in their lives. Divorce, they feel, is the answer, but a 40 day challenge...a 40 day focus back on the basics of what Christ teaches us about marriage changes everything.

Titles on Tuesday: New Bible Study Approaching

Our Women's Ministry at church is about to begin our fall Bible Study. I am so very excited about it because it is a look at the life of David. I've never really done an in depth study on David and look forward to what this study unfolds about God's word.

The study is called Anointed, Transformed, Redeemed: A Study of David by Beth Moore, Priscilla Shirer and Kay Arthur. For those of you who follow Mrs. Moore, this particular Bible study was taped at the 2007 Deeper Still event. It is a six-week study with each of the authors having a time-span of David's life.

I don't have a review on it, because we haven't started it, but I'll keep you posted!

Titles on Tuesday

Today's Titles on Tuesday selection is written by one of my favorite authors, Francine Rivers. I've previously written about my favorite book, Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. This week's book is just as amazing.

It is called The Last Sin Eater. It tells of 10-year old Cadi Forbes's struggle with losing a sister and grandmother (whom she felt unconditional love from) and her quest for finding the true answers that await in the mountain-top community she lives in. Would it be the Sin Eater that takes it all away for her? Or, would it be someone else, someone greater who brings life to an otherwise dying little girl?

Join Cadi and her friend, Fagan, as they seek out the answers that God sends through one of His own and bathe yourself in the hunger and thirst they have for God's words and wisdom. I hope that we all have the thirst that these young ones have to know the TRUTH.

This is a must add to your reading list!

Titles on Tuesday: Little Golden Books Edition

Today's Titles on Tuesday is subtitled "The Little Golden Books Edition." Remember The Little Golden Books?

One of my favorites is the Doctor Dan the Bandage Man which actually came with a bandage inside. D-Man received this book for his first birthday and it brought back so many memories.

Reading has been such a passion of mine for so many years and to know that it is a simple love that I can pass on to my son makes it so much better.

So, my question to you is which Little Golden Book was or still is your favorite? Do your kids have them and if so do they have a favorite?

Today's Titles on Tuesday post is about a series of books by Terri Blackstock called "The Restoration Series." The titles are as follows: Last Light, Night Light, True Light and Dawn's Light.

And let me just tell you, YOU MUST READ THEM! As in, read all 4 of them. This instant.

It is a wonderful series from Christain author, Terri Blackstock, that brings your thinking back to having full focus on God and the things that really are important in life. It reminds us how many things that we can do without and how few things that we really need in our life to survive.

Go out...get all 4. Read them.

Titles on Tuesday: Remember When Edition

So today's Titles on Tuesday edition is a bit different. I want you to think back to your late tween and early teen years to the books that you liked to read.

What peaked your interest?

What books that you read back then would you let your child read today?

Have you read any of those same books in your adult years and if so, did they have the same impact on you?

For me, I loved the Little House on the Prairie series as well as the Boxcar Children series. I also really enjoyed Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys books.

I haven't read any of them in many years, but I look forward to sharing them with D-Man in the near future.

Titles on Tuesday: DVD & CD Edition

Today's Titles on Tuesday selection is D-Man's favorite new DVD and CD. The DVD is called Lessons from the Sock Drawer and is a collection of 15 all-time favorite Veggie Tales short videos. And what's really cool about this DVD is that if you order it from the Big Idea website (creators of Veggie Tales), you get an AWESOME CD with it for free!

The CD has some great songs with catchy tunes...not that I sing along or anything. D-Man loves the new tunes and immediately wants to listen to them when we get in the car.

So, if you need a new selection to add to your collection I would recommend this conglomeration.

Titles on Tuesday:Kids Edition

Today's Titles on Tuesday book is one written by a local author here in Arkansas. It is called 18 Wheels Rolling to Arkansas by Dasha Headley.

The publisher of this book says the following on their website, "Take it from a small-town girl’s point-of-view in 18 Wheels Are Rolling to Arkansas. This is a book that I have ordered for our new niece, Baby C, and I plan to include one in baby gifts I give from now on. I think it would make a great edition to a child's library (especially if that child has ties to Arkansas!) And, I have heard that she has plans to write one for all 50 states.

I would definitely recommend!

Titles on Tuesday: Fun Summer Read

Today's Titles on Tuesday selection is the first book in a new series by Robin Jones Gunn. The series is called "The Katie Weldon Series" and the book is titled Peculiar Treasures.

To be honest, when I first was given this book by a woman in our church, I thought that it was a bit "young" for me. It's focus on college age people seemed a little out of my age range (not that 30 is old, I've just been out of college for several years.) But, I was pleasantly surprised at what good God lessons were taught in this book and how easily the author laid out those lessons in bite able, understandable chunks.

It would be a great read for a book club or vacation. I would highly recommend.

Titles on Tuesday: Movie Edition

Today's Titles on Tuesday selection is actually a movie title that all of you out there with kids need to see.

Here in the D House, we -heart- Curious George (or Cur, Curious George as D-Man likes to call him...he doesn't stutter, he just sings part of the theme song when he says George's name).

Anywho, we have loved Curious George for quite awhile now and really enjoy watching him on PBS each morning. And we love to watch his movies in the car when we go on long trips. So, I, I mean D-Man was elated when we got the movie, Curious George.

It tells of the adventures of the Man in the Yellow Hat as he tries to keep his job by bringing back a mysterious idol from Africa to bring in major crowds to the museum. As luck would have it, he instead brings back a smart monkey who becomes the infamous Curious George. It has an interesting cast of characters (Will Ferrell and Drew Barrymore) and boasts 88 minutes of good, wholesome family fun.

It is a great addition to any movie collection and will surely bring hours of viewing enjoyment!

Titles on Tuesday

For today's Titles on Tuesday selection, I've honestly got nothing.

Nothing.

As in nada.
