85 days until...

Do you realize just how many days until Christmas?

There are exactly 85 days until we celebrate the glorious day that Jesus was born.

It's my favorite holiday for many reasons, first and foremost because of what it signifies.

I also love to give, so it makes the Christmas holidays even more special to me.

This is where it gets me, though. Exactly 29 days before Halloween and the Christmas "decorations" are already out. Exactly 53 days until we give extra thanks for all we have been blessed with and the Christmas "decorations" are already out.

How does that make you guys feel? Are we allowing life to go by even faster than it already is?

Please weigh in...I would love to hear your thoughts.

Can you believe it??? Doesn't seem possible. I don't think I am quiet ready for that yet although the stores are full of decorations. I always end up getting the spirit but I like to enjoy each holiday in it's entirety before going to the nest. So I am just chillen :)

I LOVE Christmas. Like you, it's my favorite time of year. However, we have made it so commercialized that it has lost meaning to many of us (in my opinion). Our church is against Halloween. . .I'm not going there in this post, except to say that it bothers me more that Christmas has become a holiday instead of a HOLYday. It's hard to know the answer, though. It's that happy balance that many of us have been looking for for years: making Christmas special without taking away from the Holiness of it. Anyway, that's my opinion. [Rachel is now leaving her soapbox.]

I am not ready for winter...I'm just getting into fall. I really don't like how retail dictates our focus!! I am going to enjoy fall. So there.

UGH, i know!! i saw this last week (in september!!) at linens n things! i was disgusted! this way, by the time Christmas gets here, we're sick of it! they should stay *only one* holiday ahead, if you ask me!! Christmas and Halloween stuff should not be across the isle from each other!!

I have been annoyed with the commercialism ever since I had kids. It is bad enough that I have to be bombarded with cheesy Christmas decorations months before the celebration starts. But now I have to deal with my 3 little kids drooling over it all, and going into "I want...." mode.

It is sad that it has to start so early. But what can we expect from a society that misses the true meaning of it all anyways.....
