Movie...What's That? Please tell for I have a giveaway!

OK, so here is the deal. In the last 2 1/2 years, Husband and I have been to the movie theatre 5 times.

FIVE TIMES, people.

And two of those were just recently when we took D-Man to his first two movies. So that means only 3 of the movies we have seen in the last 2 1/2 years have even had real people in them.

THREE MOVIES, people.

So, what does that mean? Well, it means that Husband and I aren't very up on what movies are out right now. We aren't very cinema-hip at this point in our lives.

We've tried Netflix and at this very moment have had one movie for about 4 weeks. Not really working for us...just throwing the $5 away every month watching a movie collect dust on top of the DVD player.

We DVR movies, but somehow never get around to watching them.

Therefore, I need you guys to recommend movies for us to either go watch at the theatre or movies to watch at home. And I need movies that are so worth watching and so worth me staying awake for and so worth me asking (bribing) the grandparents to watch D-Man while we go watch.

Is it me, or was that last sentence a bit strange? Oh well...

Oh yeah, in return for all the cinematic wisdom that you are bestowing upon a very grateful Husband and I, I've got a $15 Blockbuster gift card for one lucky winner. Your comment will enter you in the contest which will run through Friday (April 11) at 5 pm. Only one entry per person. I'll announce a winner sometime Sunday evening because I'll be out of town until then.
So, enter away and thanks in advance for all your suggestions. Tell your friends, because I could use their suggestions as well.

I wish I could help you out, but it's been more than 2 years since we've been to the movies AT ALL. Seriously.

Jer and I had a few dry cinematic YEARS as well. However, we seemed to have broken the spell here lately, as we have been to the THEATRE (gasp) 2 times in the last month or so to actually see adult films (and I mean that as in "films which are not animated" and have adult people in them and are intended to be watched by people over 13.) Anyways, since I cleared that possible misinterpretation up quite nicely, the movies were "The Bucket List" and "The Bank Job." Bucket List was good (definently worth renting and good enough to keep you awake) and it featured Jack Nicholson (which always helps convince the men that they should watch) and Morgan Freeman. "The Bank Job" was great, especially since it was based on a true story. It does have a lot of "adult" matter in it, so if you rent this one, you definently need to be sure D-man is not around. It will DEFINENTLY keep you awake though!

So the last adult movie I saw in the theatre was The Passion. That was a few years ago. I don't get out much.
But I did watch a good rental a couple of weeks ago...We Are Marshall with Matthew McConaughy. It was a really good movie, and I stayed awake the whole time!
Two thumbs up.

I don't get out to the movies very often, but I recently watched the DVD of Perfect Strangers, with Halle Berry and Bruce Willis. I thought it was really good. Bet it wouldn't take too much persuasion to get the grandparents to watch the D-Man!

Two I've seen lately (dvd) that I loved were August Rush and Dan in Real Life.

I feel funny recommending movies b/c I don't know what your taste is, but everyone I've talked to has loved those movies.

As for what's currently playing in the theaters...I have no clue!

I LOVED The Other Boleyn Girl. But would NEVER tell you to take your husband to that one. You'll lose him, for sure.

Movies we've enjoyed TOGETHER?

All three BOURNE movies
Thomas Crown Affair
Anything with Will Ferrell

And if you want to go the Netflix route, we're enjoying LOST. Finally hopped on that bandwagon.

I'm such a trendsetter.....

Oh my goodness, you don't really want me to get started on my favorite movies.....but I'll just throw out a few fav's.

My new recent release favorite: 1. August Rush (I LOVE this movie).
2. Dan in Real Life is another awesome movie.
3. Shall We Dance is a great movie
4. Lord of the Rings trilogy
5. Bagger Vance (one of my all time favorites)
6. The Kid (another all time favorite)
7. Pride and Prejudice
8. A Little Princess
9. Princess Diaries
10. Remember the Titans

OK, I'll stop now....

Thanks for offering to enter me into the giveaway,
but I don't have a Blockbuster in my town, so you don't need to put my name in the drawing.

I could tell you tons more as we love movies. We don't just watch the movie, we look for "truths" buried in their midst, how they apply to us today, we look for "heart nuggets".

Happy watching,
Julie

Hi, found you via BigMama's Fashion Fiesta, and just wanted to make a suggestion.

I think the most recent thing I have seen in the theater is P.S. I Love You; and I really liked it even though it didn't get good reviews. It made me laugh and cry and want to go home and hug my husband long and hard. It's probably not still in the theaters and I don't think it's out on DVD yet, but I did want to give the suggestion.

Other suggestions: National Treasure (both) and Becoming Jane. Also, the Pursuit of Happyiness was a good one.

Lately we've rented Becoming Jane (ok, husband sort of watched...) and Enchanted. I know, chick flicks, but there's not much else out these days...

We don't see movies all that often either. But movies that I have enjoyed inthe past: Knocked Up, Waitress, Hitch, and my husband swears by the Bourne trilogy of movies. HTH, Lisa
