So there have been those of my bloggy (and real life) friends who have been hinting that they would like to have some new recipes, those that come from me. Therefore, I am dedicating my Works-for-me Wednesday post to them, my in-need-of-a-recipe friends.
It is one of our family favorites and I love to let it cook in the crock-pot/slow-cooker for several hours to really let the flavors mesh. This recipe actually came from my mother and I promise you, Husband never liked my spaghetti until I made it this way. So, here goes...
Momma Lu's Spaghetti Sauce(Mom, don't you love how I titled it?)
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef (or turkey)
1 onion, chopped
1/2 bell pepper, chopped (optional)
1 can mushrooms (optional)
2 TBSPs garlic powder
1 TBSP Italian seasoning
2 16 oz cans of tomato sauce
2 small cans of tomato paste
1 can Italian style diced tomatoes (optional, but I always add b/c I love the extra texture)
Brown the ground meat, onion, bell pepper and 1 TBSP of garlic powder until the meat is cooked throughout. Combine the meat mixture with the remainder of the ingredients in your crock-pot and cook on low for 3-4 hours. Serve over pasta and enjoy!
Let me know if you try it and how you like it! For other great Works-for-me Wednesday tips, check out Rocks In My Dryer!
